look at what the cat dragged in

I don't have an affinity for birds before but since i went to our delightful but horrendous Forest Camp, I somehow got attracted to the birds of Borneo somehow.*Or maaaaaaaaybe it was due to the fact that a colorful Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher started playfully biting my hands?? No?

Any hoo, today, my cat gave me a surprise (more like my sisinlaw telling me of the surprise) by catching a  rare bird, for most of us la since we never seen it before.

It was a black and red broadbill.

Here's how it looks ALIVE...

Notice the turquoise beak? It's one of the significant feature that eases the identification method besides the long "lashes" (tidak berapa dapat nampak di gambar tu) that is situated just in between of the border of  it's beak and it's upper face.

And here's how it looks dead..

However, fret not Green people out there, this species of bird is not at all threatened due to the cat catching or so. Based on the IUCN Conservation Status, it is in the LC category which means, it is the least of our concern as in the figure below...
